The DaVinci Code Movie

Okay so I know this came out a long time ago but I just saw it today so I’m criticizing it now. Book based movies almost never live up to expectations. But rarely do they crumble under the pressure of religious conformity so greatly that they alter the ending to give a message which is contradictory to the book. I recall hearing that part way through filming the production company was pressured to censor some of the anti-Christian material in the film. With the success of the book obviously relying on this controversial material, I can’t understand why they feel the same material wouldn’t be equally profitable for the movie.

The ultimate sell-out was right near the end when Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) confesses that he now sees that there might be something to Jesus Christ’s divinity. There is no pretense for this realization and it contradicts every bit of character development that occurred in the movie.

On a scale of 1 to 10: Crap
