Planet Earth

If you haven’t had the chance to catch this series on the Discovery Channel, make every effort to do so next time it’s on. Or better yet, rent the DVD set which I assume exists and watch the whole series. I honestly can’t imagine the kind of person who wouldn’t enjoy each and every episode.

The series showcases a huge variety of plant and animal lives taking place all over the Earth. Yes, Discovery Channel and National Geographic always produce documentaries about life on our planet but believe me, this is not the same. The cinematography is just astounding. It boggles my mind to consider the weeks/months of field work which must have been necessary to obtain some of the footage which in the final product may only last a few seconds.

Beyond the tremendous visual appeal, the factual content is just as mind-blowing. I guarantee that regardless of one’s documentary watching habits, everyone will be exposed to unbelievable animals they had never seen before.

The entire series is easily as good as, and maybe even better than, any TV show I’ve seen.
