Adventures in Baking

With the winter rains slowly dissipating as Spring continually tries to crawl into the northwest, Anna and I have been trying to get outside for an exciting adventure each weekend. This past weekend we failed to accomplish such an excursion so instead we tried to make some soft pretzels. That’s just as exciting right?

Despite being relatively time consuming they were pretty easy and rolling, stretching and shaping (and occasionally snacking on) the dough brought back fond memories of kindergarten. In the end we discovered that we had underestimated how much the dough would continue to rise so the finished products came out looking more like misshapen bagels than pretzels. But the important part is that they taste great and have an excellent chewy-softness.
